@esther I have a scenario right now at work where a touch screen was used and if actual physical buttons were used instead it would be much faster and easier to use in every way.
@vol4life8657 @rbreich I'm pretty sure that would have no effect whatsoever on them as most of them are millionaires and it would unnecessarily punish any who are not. As for CEO's who serve no purpose whatsoever why give them anything at all?
@rodhilton As someone old enough to have seen the original in the theater, I cannot say I hate what I have seen so far. I'm sure nostalgia for my childhood plays into it somewhat for sure. I guess not seeing any of the marvel crap or ready player one that you mention does have an effect on my opinion as well. I guess it will depend on how the rest of the movie ends up paced out as to how much I like or dislike it. The concept seemed solid to me.

🤔I got asked about this yesterday from a neighbor, a teacher in our local school district.

Teacher: "Isn't AI 4 to 5 times faster/better at coding than the best developers?"

Me: "Isn't AI 4 to 5 times faster/better at teaching than the best teachers?”

(shocked/disgusted look on her face)

🤷 And that's one of the problems of AI. It seems better than you at something you know nothing about because you don't quite know well enough to call it out on its bullshit. https://toot.cafe/@baldur/112031199817039932

JFC, people in tech are really out there saying that language models will be better at therapy, financial advice, and career advice than trained people. WTF is wrong with you people? Do you really have no clue about what other people’s jobs actually involve? Language models can’t even do maths how are they supposed to get good at financial advice? And therapy? Just… 😑 What’s wrong with people in tech?

@esther Yes, they are quite nice!

@ntfbscott saying that it's badly designed because it explicitly prevents a thing that the designers wanted to prevent just makes no sense to me. You might not like it but it's hard to argue it's "bad" when it does exactly what it set out to do.

That's like looking at a plane and saying "this car is a piece of shit, it'll never fit on a road"

@Baseless_Fabric @rodhilton Indeed. Definitely not the same thing at all. The US ruins everything even words.
@slicedlime "Tell me you don't understand how people consume media, without telling me you don't understand how people consume media" Color based video feeds. I'm sure this cannot go horribly in a direction they could not have thought of at all.
@esther That's gonna be a fun time for the old sinuses. It might not kill the Covid, but it's going to make it wish it was dead! 😂
