@msbellows @drahardja @blogdiva hi. France here, I think the system is similar to Norway. On the "click a box to validate your tax" website, they ask you a few questions first before displaying the box, such as did you marry/divorce this year, change address, etc... if you say you got special income (independant worker for exemple), or expense (deductible home repair, charity stuff) , you have the corresponding page of the form to fill before the final "ok" box.
@kimapr @rysiek if I believe the stats from my e-commerce website, counting only placed orders ( so guarantee it's not bot traffic), you should still be supporting IE10, if i count also visitors who don't order much, IE9 is still pretty big too. And it's a small site, barely 30 orders a day, larger websites should probably support ie6...
@pelle but I'm all for security patches ! No company should be allowed to issue a new software if they are not actively caring for the old ones. If they have work power enough to code something new, they have enough to maintain the old. But the responsibility cannot be put on the buyer.
@pelle yeah, but that was a target. No one is actively targeting random home xp copies. Sure can still happen by random bad luck. Also a lot of people using computer as basically a glorified tv don't really care about the computer's data, so ransomware just means press the reset to factory btn.
@osvaldo @dandylover1 @nixCraft a security nightmare ... for who ? I can assure you those still run fine. Sure they are part of a, or several, bot network, but that doesn't really affect the user, does it ? If Microsoft wanna keep the bot networks size down they can provide updates. Fuck planned obsolescence.
@ndrwy as an I.T person, i can say that it's unrealistic to expect people to move away from Microsoft office to Libre Office, at least in professional serting. But there is a one for one alternative, german's Softmarker FreeOffice. The switch is easy. Formating problems are rare to inexistants. It handle long spreadsheets ( > 200000) better than excel in my opinion.
@EUCommission You mean like the tariff the EU put on chinese's electric cars, at a time were the eletrification of transport should be a priority ...
