It's alive!! I was given this orchid a few months ago by a friend. It had some flowers on then, and they eventually faded and dropped off. I wasn't sure if it would flower again, but I gave it a chance, and eventually some buds appeared and today one opened.

I haven't done anything special with it. Careful not to over water it, give it some plant food. Delighted it's still alive, because I'm mostly rubbish with plants.

Student loan processing is so odd. I got an alert there was new message for me today, a Sunday. I have been approved for partial student loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Which is great. But the timing confuses me. lol

Vote today. Mine is a municipal election, the mayor of this town and other city officials. No issues on the ballot to vote yea or no. But it's important. Because this is how we have a say in what happens in our communities. VOTE!

Yesterday’s annular eclipse as viewed from a city park on the outskirts of Hondo, #Texas. There was a broad layer of high clouds when we arrived but luckily they broke up & blew away just in time for the main event. Had to get up in the wee hours and drive 225 miles (362 km) west to get right in the center of the path but it was well worth it.

For most of us, if not all of us, there is literally nothing we can do to stop what is happening in #Gaza

But the *very least* we can do is be a witness to what is happening and to see it CLEARLY.

Because when this is over (whatever 'over' will look like), the Powerful will tell us that what we saw was NOT what we saw. They will try to erase the fact these people existed and had a right to exist. They had a right to be free.

They HAVE a right to be free.

I'm overwhelmed and overcome because there's only so much trauma we can bear. But WE, here in the U.S., are bearing *nothing* compared to what our Palestinian neighbors are bearing.

To look away is a comfort+privilege.
