This also works on `calc()` and other mathematical functions like `min()`, which should help *a lot* when debugging these calculations.

šŸ‘€ Coming to Chrome DevTools in Chrome 138: CSS Value Tracing

When you hover a --custom-prop in a `var()`, DevTools currently shows you the computed value. From Chrome 138 onwards, you can hover the `var` part to see how CSS actually got to that value.

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, because I’m starting to get the ā€œour brains work like LLMsā€ in my mentions this week:

The idea that human consciousness could be simulated is, in 2025, still science fiction. You have never used or seen a product that has a clear roadmap between it and AGI, let alone consciousness.

We are not on the cusp of accurately simulating human consciousness in silicon; moreover, the idea that if we did, that silicon would have a first-person conscious experience is a leap of faith on the same level as believing in an immaterial, immortal soul.

You are so much more than an LLM. Anybody who says differently either hasn’t done their homework or has an agenda.

Oh, this is what I was talking about. It started with a quick demo on CodePen to check out what `contrast-color` does. Then a very short blog post for that demo. Then… oh.

Now it’s a 2500 word article on contrast algorithms, questioning how best to get to true accessibility…

If you want to help keep this ember glowing and growing, and are up for some unique challenges, please apply!

My campaign on Instagram and Facebook for a migration to the Fediverse. Funnily enough, it brought a lot of new friends from the Fediverse itself.
