This afternoon the Pride Flag was raised over Parliament with the Prime Minister and the Canadian Pride Caucus.
Our message is clear. Pride is a Canadian value and one worth continuing to fight for both at home and abroad.

It was a privilege to serve as the government sponsor in the Senate for Bill C-9 Comabtting Hate Act, which represents some of the most consequential changes to the criminal code to address hate crimes in the last 50+ years.
This is my final third reading speech, which provides an overview of the changes the bill will implement, what we heard, and what this bill means for Canada. 🇨🇦

This week we met with key national 2SLGBTQI+ national partners, including Egale Canada, Society of Queer Momentum, Pride at Work, Community Based Reaearch Centre, and Fierte Pride.
We are united in supporting Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ communities to grow, contribute, and thrive! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

This was spot on. Governments make laws. Courts interpret and enforce them within the bounds of the constitution. No government should be above the law.
