Maybe it’s the harmonic sounds of the waves arriving one by one, acoustically playing each pier supports like a soft stringed musical instrument. The calming winds carry cool moist air from the waters below for which every fine landing droplet can be gracefully felt on the face. The smells of the ocean life is like no other, very organic and somewhat subtly raw. The slight fragrance of seaweed fills the lungs with every breath taken. Quietness overwhelms and peace sets in. During the day, the pier harbours optimistic fishers trying to catch their family a hard earned meal. Gulls, once known as the seabird king, now impoverished like scavenging beggars squawking for hand outs. However, in the night, the pier is vacant and asleep, resting for the next busy day ahead. While some would see this as an unnecessary solitude, I see this as a few previous secluded moments away from the daily chaos. I sit on the bench, illuminated by the light above and I feel like I’m home. #justbreathe #mentalhealth #CampbellRiver #BritishColumbia #photography #longexposure #Canon.
