It wasn't even guess per movie. The people choosing the UI to enable clearly had no idea what they were doing. They must have been taking whatever their idea of a usable UI subset was and randomly for each element enabling either keyboard or on screen and they almost always had some of each. Every movie, every command was a guess.
Listening to Cory Doctorow's (@pluralistic) podcast where he reads from his 2004 MS DRM talk when VLC was janky and I was using PowerDvd as it slowly removed features.
Eventually they made every UI element optionally enabled by the DVD. Go back 10s? keyboard? on screen "remote"? Just can't?
Then I switched to VLC. Like Cory said, it's much better now.

They think refugees are dangerous subhumans that should be exterminated an I think they should be treated with compassion but we should get along because, "We both think the system is broken."

Just got my audio-book of The Bezzel. Thanks!
Occurs to me as my DRM free library grows and I sort it by author so it's easy to see everything I have, that Audible's sorting is pretty garbage if I can do better in a file manager.

I like your art of the month club idea and I still have plenty of free wall space.
Also, look at this art I commissioned from my sister but the framing was 5 times the cost of the art.
(You said tell you on twitter but I think posting is broken there right now.)
@georgetakei Good. Now connect it to the airports.
@TechConnectify Can confirm Mississippi DOT is cheapskates. Probably doesn't help that half the cars have the cheaper "antique" plates.

What I'd like is a thermostat that serves a webpage without connecting to the internet.
What I'd settle for is a programmable thermostat that automatically switches between heating and cooling.
@scalzi Does anyone else really matter?
