One thing you might be interested in - A local information security meetup ( @rainsec ) happens last-Tuesdays at a pub about two miles away. (Lucky Lab on SE Hawthorne Blvd.) The meetup officially starts at 6:30, ends at 9:30, on the outdoor covered patio behind. If you felt like showing up (presumably after the Powell's event,) pizza and beer would be flowing.

Matt@pluralistic I think there is overlap in personality with the #farL and #farR full of contrarians who oppose the mainstream as a reflex. My frustration with much of the Left is an insistence on ideological purity over pragmatic action. So the two sides combine to attack Democrats which helps Republicans win.
