I walk this quiet wooded trail nearby almost daily and an individual who I believe is not of sound mind has been spray painting what I originally thought were just environmentally unfriendly trailmarkers on the trees, but have since turned into nonsensical patterns and symbols. I think he's the person who's been breaking a shitton of saplings as well.

I noticed the marks appearing a while ago, but actually saw him today after smelling paint fumes for a while. He was painting over his other marks with a new colour. I really want to get him some help and for him to stop wrecking the area, but I have no clue how I'd even do that. If I was in public I'd ask him what was up but I don't think it's smart to go up to someone I suspected is experiencing psychosis in the middle of the woods.
