Pretty excited for field day. Hope the weather is clear!
Planning to make a visit to the Richfield club early on and then going to Benson Airport with the Saint Paul Club.
Related to my previous post: I am finally able to use the menu of the ultra pico keyer to change the keyer mode relatively easily.
The menu consists of buttons that make it play morse code, so it was definitely a struggle when I first got it 😅
Ok, I finally feel ready to start using my radio instead of the #ultrapicokeyer. I love the UPK for practicing at home, but I need a little warmup on the radio's keyer again.
Now I am pretty much just waiting for a clear day! It is super rainy this week and I only do HF portable and outdoors!
What could you at one of these #FieldDay sites do if you're not a ham?
Every site has people who would love to show you around. Many of them have a special Get On The Air (GOTA) radio set up just for people without licenses to try it out. Ours also has things like Morse code keys for people to play with, games for kids, walkie talkies to play with, a killer barbecue, and a fire engine! (Yeah, the fire engine isn't really ham radio, but who cares...it's a fire engine.)
Is fresh water better than the Ocean for making ham radio contacts? I venture onto the beach for some Lake Superior POTA fun, activating US-1439 Big Bay State Park, and US-4244 Big Bay Sandspit and Bog. ~KB9VBR
