I'm gonna be fully migrating to my Calckey account @justyourbud ! I'll see you all on the other side

Thank you @stux for the time and dedication put into this amazing instance! It got me hooked on the fediverse and introduced me to a lot of great people and I'll always appreciate that

I suppose I should give an #introduction (I’m not good at these)

I’m new to
#calckey though I’ve been on the #fediverse via #mastodon (@JustYourBud) since late last year—I’ve been hearing about this platform and it just seems a lot more fun so I thought I’d give it an honest try before permanently migrating, so here I am!

Any pronouns are fine with me—I’m here and I’m queer (a programmer)
and I have a discord bot named Akaei whom you can follow for art and updates over at @akaei, though I might end up setting up a custom Calckey instance for her to migrate to (once I figure out how)

Anyways that’s enough about me I’m positive I will enjoy my stay

Hey guys I’m on #calckey as well now, follow me over at @justyourbud  I’m thinking of migrating over to there permanently but I wanted to try it out first before giving it my all—we’ll see how it goes!

I think Mastodon people should use the "like" button more.

People are told not to like because liking doesn't broadcast posts like boosting does, and the site needs boosts. And replies are preferred because they're deeper engagement or something.

But, on some level, we want people to keep using Mastodon. If someone posts something and followers like it, they know stuff is getting seen here and they'll want to keep using the site. I just don't see what's gained by holding back on the likes

#Office & #Productivity picks of the day:

(These are all FOSS)

➡️ @bitwarden - Password management software

➡️ @XWiki - Wiki software aimed at businesses

➡️ @CollaboraOffice - Online fork of LibreOffice

➡️ @Carnet - Note-taking app synced with personal clouds, alternative to Google Keep

➡️ @joplinapp - Another note-taking app that can be synced through clouds

➡️ @hedgedoc - Collaborative markdown note editor, web-based and self-hostable

➡️ @synoforum - Unofficial forum for Synology NAS owners

I’ve been in a good mood today.

Today is the first day in over a year that I haven’t used Mastodon.

No, I’m not saying that Mastodon is “bad” and made me miserable. In fact, Mastodon freed me from Big Social, and for that I’m thankful.

But it’s also true that Mastodon is kind of limiting. And well, I kind of want to spread my wings and fly.

Actually, it’s a compliment to Mastodon that I can still talk to Mastodon while using another service that gives me more joy.

If Mastodon was a walled garden service, I wouldn’t be able to do this.
I apologize for that last toot and regret it immensely this is just the kind of stuff I think about at work
this is still my favorite emote on this instance nothing will top it (despite how much it’s begging for it )

Mozilla’s new Mozilla.Social Mastodon instance is an attempt to reinvent content moderation

Mozilla.Social, a new beta Mastodon server from the team at Mozilla, brings a new take on policy to the Twitter clone. It’s not worried about censorship or free speech — it’s just trying to make a better place to be online.
