If you were previously disappointed with the search function on Mastodon, I highly recommend you try it again, as it has improved considerably.

We used to only be able to search for hashtags, but now it feels much more like normal textual search.

Since we're on the topic of black birds and language, how disturbing is it that I commonly say “raven” with the same vowel as in “cat” but longer /ɹæːvən/—wait a second I'd like to interrupt this toot I'm being told the two pronunciations just have different meanings
The English like to joke about Germans making up words by concatenation like “handshoe” and “antibabypill” but then they see a merl a call it “blackbird” as if there was no other species of black birds

Not only it fixes the problem with usual donations (having to donate decent sums regularly is annoying), but it also solves the problems with the ad-based internet (one view here can be three orders of magnitude more profitable that one usual view with ads)
Concept idea: service where you pay something like 20$/month (OPT-IN) and at the end of the month it gives that money in donations to the online content seen/read (videos watched, articles read, etc) shared by roughly the time spent on them, to feel less bad abt blocking ads etc
