We like #Joysticks, #Gamepads and all #GameControllers.

Joystick.Directory is an attempt to catalogue all the noteable games controllers for mainly retro and vintage systems.

I want to do a series of controller reviews - from the Gravis GamePad all the way up to recent Xbox/PS pads - with the goal of finding some older gems worth saving from ewaste that are good for #retrogaming. If that sounds interesting to you, what form would you want it to take? A series of Mastodon posts, short Youtube videos, Twitch streams, something else I'm not considering?

Boosts and comments would be welcome, I just want to share information in a useful, meaningful way.

đŸŽŗ CTA Bowling Ball
đŸ—“ī¸ 2009
➥ī¸ Wii

CTA Digital's Bowling Ball was an accessory for the Wii to be used for bowling games such as Wii Sports, Brunswick Pro Bowling or Ten Pin Alley.

To use it, you needed to open up the ball and place your wii-mote inside. Once the remote is set inside, plug the three holes with your fingers, as you would a bowling ball.

Came with an adjustable strap for safety reasons

Random Game Controller of the Day #32

🎮 Microsoft SideWinder GamePad V 1.0
đŸ—“ī¸ 1996
➥ī¸ Gameport (later USB)

The Microsoft SideWinder GamePad featured a d-pad, six fire buttons (A,B,C,X,Y,Z), two shoulder triggers, a mode and start button.

The Gameport version had a pass-through, and you could connect up to four controllers.

If you have the classic font Webdings installed, typing a capital A with umlauts (Ä), will give you a picture of the gamepad!

Here's your #SegaSaturn fun fact of the day!

When crafting the Saturn 3D Control Pad, Sega's design team decided to make the new controller's cord removable.

That way, when not in use playing games, owners could fly the pad around pretending it's a new prototype Starfleet vessel from their favorite #StarTrek series!

If I have to hear another skinny white dude in his twenties call the N64 controller the worst/weirdest I will blow a gasket. NO YOU INSOLENT FOOL, YOU IGNORANT CHILD, THE JAGUAR HAD THE WORST CONTROLLER! LOOK AT IT! LOOK AT IT AND WEEP!

Some people collect games, I collect game controllers. Almost everything on the left, and plenty of stuff on the right (mostly excluding the sealed and non-PC gear) has had at least some time in hand - toys are meant to be played with!

There's stuff here you haven't thought about in decades, and might not have seen before at all. I'm on a mission to research as many older controllers as I can, so I can recommend the good stuff to collect and save from e-waste. Any questions?
