When I was 14, (30 odd years ago!! 😐) I found in a second hand book store King Vidor On Filmmaking.
I was especially taken about his theories of 'silent music' as I was into George 'mad max' miller and his visual music approach.
Vidor went into detail over the ending of Our Daily Bread. I couldn't watch the ditch digging scene then, but can now on YouTube. First time watch
That no man's land between Xmas and new years where time and day is unknown, where indulges are precariously close to alcoholism and gluttony but are accepted..and reading, lots of reading...that is bliss and my favourite time of the year.
