This is my approach to politics, magick and life:
I want to live in a world where people help each other to meet their needs. So when someone needs help, I help them, and then suddenly, mysteriously, and completely aside from any outcome of that action, in that instant, I do live in that world.
This may seem like it doesn't matter. But I promise you that it does. It is, in fact, the only thing that could ever possibly matter.
Okay another thing the Trump admin didn't plan for in Minneapolis:
Do you know how electrifying collective action with united purpose can be? Do you have any idea the heat generated by the fire that ignites in people's hearts when they look around and see all their neighbors out there with them, scared but determined?
That is not a feeling our enemies want us to learn & get used to. It's frankly addictive. Once you've felt it, you're going to want to feel it again.
If the demands of the George Floyd protests had been heeded, she'd still be alive.
Instead of defunding (well, abolishing) the police, the carceral machinery has been frantically expanding. They're going to keep claiming they need more "training", as if cop cities and megaprisons are supposed to actually help. The hell does anybody need an 800-acre facility for, in order to train assholes NOT to hunt us for sport??
The narrative is stuffing all the sins of police into an ICE-shaped decoy, same way all the sins of politicians are being stuffed into the effigy that is Trump, for us to focus all of our hate and fear at as if those are the real source of our problems. Kicking the can of real change down the road with the myth that things will be "normal" again with them gone. George Floyd normal.
Renee Nicole Good was shot while unarmed and just trying to drive away.
Breonna Taylor was shot WHILE SLEEPING IN BED. ...And, for that matter, so was Fred Hampton.
Anybody who tries to pretend this is a new or unusual problem is kidding themselves.
In 1959, a cement mixer with a full load of cement, wrecked near Winganon, Oklahoma 🇺🇸
By the time a tow truck came to haul it away, all of cement had hardened inside of mixer. Tow truck was not able to remove all wreckage at same time because of weight, and decided to haul only cab/frame and would come back for detached mixer later, which never happened.
Today, 67 years later, it still sits where it fell. Locals have painted it and added "rocket thrusters" to make it look like a space capsule.
i need y'all to understand that the moderate who tells you that you can't protect marginalized people from fascists because it'll paint progressives as dangerous criminals is just as vital a component of fascism as the goon actively rounding up those marginalized people.
fascism's true believers are *very* few in number. the bulk of fascism's power comes from treacherous moderates who will tell you that, yes, fascism is bad - but resistance is worse.
