@lightweight I discussed the Linux install fest with Laura and she thinks it would be a great idea. She will be handing back to Ben after the Network Gathering on 18 Nov so it may be best to look for a date early next year but do the promo for it over Nov/Dec along the lines of 'Don't chuck your Windows laptop out, there is another way!!' Perhaps may be best to reach out to Ben directly to sort date and promo. What do you think?

@lightweight Hi Dave....did you send me a message recently?I remember seeing something flick up but was busy with visitors but now can't see it. Sorry. I've been thinking I need to catch up with you. Have been unexpectedly busy with Untouched World Foundation contract work since the person who took over the lead role from me had a miscarriage & subsequent rough time. Looking forward to my last piece of work with them Nov 7-9 then off on holiday for nearly 3 weeks in Fiordland. Hoping u r well.

It teaches leadership, safety, risk management, and interpersonal skills. It grows the future workforce of our second-largest export industry, Adventure Tourism which employs over 180,000 Kiwis and supports 1 in 9 jobs nationwide, contributing 𝟳.𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗗𝗣. Outdoor Ed is internationally benchmarked, with the UK, Australia, and many others recognising its value. But let’s be honest, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗭𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸. Exploration and navigation are woven into our identity: Kupe, Sir Edmund Hillary, Peter Blake, Lord of the Rings.... Outdoor Ed keeps these stories alive for a generation growing up increasingly disconnected from place. As our cities grow, Outdoor Ed ensures our rangatahi remain rooted in the land, in our collective histories, and in nature itself. And if it didn’t make a difference, more than 370 high schools wouldn’t be investing in staff, qualifications, equipment and spending nights away from home to make it happen. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹. Outdoor Education quite literally 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. As a young person struggling with severe depression, even attempting to take my own life. I stumbled into Outdoor Education by accident. It got me outside, built me up and grew my resilience. And it showed me that life is worth living. In a country facing a mental health crisis, it’s time we recognised Outdoor Education for what it is: not just another subject, but a lifeline. I’ve spent the last 16 years working in this industry because I believe in it with my whole heart. And I’ll keep fighting to make sure every young person has access to it.
