Looking forward to my last piece of work with them Nov 7-9 then off on holiday for nearly 3 weeks in Fiordland. Hoping u r well.

Why Outdoor Education is vital for Kiwis | Natalie Kelly McNulty - ARPro posted on the topic | LinkedIn

Itโ€™s impossible to count all the reasons why ๐—ข๐˜‚๐˜๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—˜๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜‡๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด and why it ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—น. It keeps unengaged learners in education. It teaches leadership, safety, risk management, and interpersonal skills. It grows the future workforce of our second-largest export industry, Adventure Tourism which employs over 180,000 Kiwis and supports 1 in 9 jobs nationwide, contributing ๐Ÿณ.๐Ÿฑ% ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—š๐——๐—ฃ. Outdoor Ed is internationally benchmarked, with the UK, Australia, and many others recognising its value. But letโ€™s be honest, ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐—ญ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ธ. Exploration and navigation are woven into our identity: Kupe, Sir Edmund Hillary, Peter Blake, Lord of the Rings.... Outdoor Ed keeps these stories alive for a generation growing up increasingly disconnected from place. As our cities grow, Outdoor Ed ensures our rangatahi remain rooted in the land, in our collective histories, and in nature itself. And if it didnโ€™t make a difference, more than 370 high schools wouldnโ€™t be investing in staff, qualifications, equipment and spending nights away from home to make it happen. As a young person struggling with severe depression, even attempting to take my own life. I stumbled into Outdoor Education by accident. It got me outside, built me up and grew my resilience. And it showed me that life is worth living. In a country facing a mental health crisis, itโ€™s time we recognised Outdoor Education for what it is: not just another subject, but a lifeline. Iโ€™ve spent the last 16 years working in this industry because I believe in it with my whole heart. And Iโ€™ll keep fighting to make sure every young person has access to it. Stop the Government taking away Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education gives young people opportunities they canโ€™t always get in a classroom. It builds resilience, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It keeps students engaged in school, especially those who struggle in traditional settings, and connects them with Aotearoaโ€™s unique environment, culture, and outdoor heritage. These are life skills that benefit every student, no matter their future pathway. But the Ministry of Education has indicated that Outdoor...

I support Palestine Action. I hate all forms of violence. I wish no harm on anyone. I just want a kinder, fairer, greener world. Apparently this makes me a terrorist. But I am the opposite of a terrorist.

Interesting to listen to Nate Hagens (Director of The Institute for the Study of Energy & Our Future (ISEOF)) on the idea of the Great Simplification. Some similarities to Project Drawdown with the basic premise being that we cannot continue to believe in continual growth on a finite planet. Worth a viewing & perhaps a follow through with more of his videos & a read of his substack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5VWZm7ESfk

Now this was an unsettling yet interesting read. What struck me is that I see this impacts already in more jobs becoming precarious & normalised as thus. As one person commented, ' Assets owners get leverage. Workers get metrics". And most of us don't see it happening because we believe new developments will make life easier perhaps happier. We in the comfortable middle class are so often complacent until the job cuts due to AI impact us up to then we have been complicit
