From the recent review in the NYT Book Review of Goodnight, Irene, by Luis Urrea. I love the line about the “historical novelist’s gold”. Indeed. #writing#HIstoricalfiction
Peas and Love, folks! Meet my new shoulder, brought to you by modern medical technology. Looking forward to pain-free freedom of movement. The folks at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center were terrific. Walked in at 10:30 and was out by 6:00.
Did you know June 4th was International Stand-Alone Novel Day, that holiday revered by series writers? Of course you didn't, I just made it up. Like I made up the stories in these, my four stand-alone novels, available in all the usual places. #writingcommunity
For those of you who will be reading Proud Sorrows when it comes out in September, you may enjoy this drawing of the fictional village of Slewford in Norfolk, where Billy Boyle will be visiting Seaton Manor on leave. I sketched this out when I started writing to orient myself and place the characters in their proper places. The map shows Norfolk in relation to The Wash, a rectangular bay known for strong tides and shifting sands.
First tour dates announced for PROUD SORROWS, Billy Boyle #18! Sept 5 (book & author birthday combined!) at Murder By The Book, Houston. TX Sept 6 at Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZ Stay tuned!
