I just finished reading Jeff Melnick's "Creepy Crawling", a cultural history of the Manson family & their influence on popular culture.
I am probably the prefect target audience for this book, as an outsider artist/musician & the child of an iconoclastic forensic profiler who taught me to call bullshit on everything.
I've read the major texts on the topic & while I haven't gone nearly as deep as Melnick—& now don't have to—I'm thrilled to see the Bug & the L.A. boys club called out, plus a thorough & intelligent look at what the Family did vs what they've come to mean.
