Excellent cast and a powerful contemporary production of Britten’s unsettling ‘The Rape of Lucretia’. Marvellous, atmospheric playing by the Aurora Orchestra too. An all-round outstanding cast, but I have to praise Anne Marie Stanley (Lucretia) & Michael Gibson (male chorus).

My last Alcina at Covent Garden was nearly 30 years ago. A new production was long overdue, so it’s a shame I didn’t enjoy it more. Lisette Oroposa was vocally and physically glamorous in the title role though. #rohAlcina
