Well, Darktide is rather good fun!

Ugh, this feels increasingly like I'm tooting my own trumpet, and I hate that. But also, people often ask me what I've worked on, so it's nice to have a place to point them at.

Thankfully, my rampant impostor syndrome always does a great job of keeping my ego in check! At least, I *think* it does...

And finally (for now!) it was recently announced that I'm designing Fallout Factions: Nuka-World, a skirmish-level miniatures wargame for Modiphius.

Oh, and Blitz Bowl, which I did after I left Games Workshop but which was published by them.

And several others that are still under wraps, because the last couple of years have been interesting in board game publishing world!

If anyone's interested, here's some stuff I've worked on:

Games Workshop: several codex / battletome / supplement books, Warhammer Quest Silver Tower, Betrayal at Calth, Gorechosen, Blood Bowl 2016, Necromunda 2017, Titanicus 2018

Mantic Games: DreadBall, League of Infamy, Hellboy the Board Game

Steamforged Games: Devil May Cry: the Bloody Palace

Needy Cat Games: Steel Colosseum, Vampires Suck at Shopping, Foul Denizens (those last two are on itch - check the linktree in my profile!)

Oh blimey, should I have done an #introdction post?

I'm James. Hello! I design tabletop games, usually as part of Needy Cat Games, which I founded in 2017.

My professional background has mostly been in miniatures-based games, but I love working on games of all sorts. These days, I play more ttrpgs than anything else, and I'd love to have the time to design more of them!

Aside from games, I love cooking, I'm a keen larper, and I do a lot of long family dog walks.

I cooked a big family roast on Sunday, and today I've made the leftovers into creamy chicken soup as Sophie's feeling a bit under the weather. I can safely say that it is *bangin'*.

Also, I fried up chunks of leftover Yorkshire pudding to make crunchy croutons. They were vaguely dumplingy, crispy on top and chewy under the water line. Definitely doing that again.

Thank God that Monte Cook Games let me use their Consent In RPG form. Otherwise I would have "died" trying to make one. I don't have the social field expertise to write one...

I've had an idea for a sliding-scale objective system rattling around in my mind for months. Started as an idea for a TTRPG, then I tried putting it in a board game. The latest crazy idea is to run a one-shot LARP based around the idea.

I look forward to putting it in a video game some time around 2037.

I managed to Do An ADHD and forget that Mastodon exists. Oops!

I'm struggling a bit with the potential disappearance of The Other Site. Change is always difficult, innit? But there's definitely a nostalgic appeal to decentralised servers. I was a big mIRC user back in the day, then I was in loads of Livejournal rings... so in a lot of ways, this feels like rolling back the clock. But with added hindsight.

Interested to see how it goes :)
