My first aquascape - Lemmy.World
Hey all! I wanted to share my first tank with you all. Today is 5 days in so
still really new. Plants seem to be acclimating well (especially the tiger
lotus) This is a 7g cube I got off amazon. I chose to do the Walstad Method with
this and have miracle gro organic choice capped with sand and gravel as the
substrate. I havent done any water changes since setting it up. The water got
pretty cloudy over the first 3 days and has since cleared up quite a bit. You
can see in the pics from bottom to top the progression:
https://imgur.com/a/W7VBk4J [https://imgur.com/a/W7VBk4J] I tested the water for
the first time after 24 hours and then once more yesterday. First test was ~6.8
pH with 0 NH3, 0 NO2, and 0 NO3. Yesterday’s test showed the same pH and Nitrate
/ Nitrite levels but had about 0.5ppm for ammonia. I will start testing daily
today to observe how these levels fluctuate. The only thing I am unhappy with
this tank is my moss placement. I submurged the tank fully before placing the
moss anywhere and then panicked and hamfisted the placement by supergluing a
clump to my driftwood. I think when I do a water change I will drain low enough
to trim the moss and stick it on properly so it isn’t just a clump there.
Overall I am really excited to be doing this. Let me know if you have any tips /
suggestions / insights. All guidance and feedback is appreciated :)
I wish him all the luck in the world to get pregnant for even 1 month!
Pikmin 4 has been great. You’re in for a treat! This is such a great series.
Yeah, I think Hot also has some similar parameters as Active. I have no idea of specifics so just a guess but I think Hot is pulling in threads that have any sort of comment activity on them or new upvotes? Idk
I think its because there was that comment on this post a few hours before yours, so it was pulled into the active feed.
I dont have experience with grow lights, but am interested to hear how it works for you! My friend has some tropical plants under a grow light in his office and they do really well. Id think that you should be fine.
Im not an expert by any means but I noticed with my cacti and succulents that potting them in the correct type of soil makes a huge difference. If you have a local nursery, they may have some nice soil for you.
I hope this helps!
Oh also, I have a miracle grown succulent food I give them periodically. Maybe grab something like that as well.
Thank you for keeping our corner of the internet a little bit cleaner!
It’s a bummer that anyone is made feel this way about the phones they use. I’ve been an iOS user since my first smartphone and could not give less of a fuck if you are as well or if you use Android. Most of my friends are Android users and our message threads, video messaging, etc is all fine. I feel like I see this thread a lot on every platform and the comments section is just a place for people to vent about how much they hate the other operating system (and most of the time they have never even used the other lol).
