I really appreciated a few years ago when a pastor from a nearby Protestant congregation not my own, volunteered to hold space at what was at the time the local firehouse, for anyone during the hours she set to come and have ashes administered for Ash Wednesday. I don't remember her name, and they don't do it anymore, and I'm a little sad about that.

I am not now, nor have ever in my life been, raised or practicing Catholic. But there are many Protestant denominations, more like individual congregations in many cases that choose to voluntarily do the marking of ashes on the forehead, as well. (It is not mandated by our religion. I am actually United Methodist, although I frequently keep company with the UU Church in Frederick.)

If I become aware of an additional holiday or two from other sources, I usually include it, unless I feel it is so obscure that probably nobody in my circles would have heard of it, nor care. (That doesn't happen too often.)

Today I want to talk about the Daily Calendar for each date.

This is actually a fairly straightforward process. I have bookmarked several sites that post daily calendars for free, and to a limited extent, I just note most if not all of the holidays stated for the day.

(Today is his birthday.)

Because of his mother, Mel Gibson retains dual Irish & American citizenship. He is also an Australian permanent resident.

Also, Trump names Mel Gibson, Jon Voight & Sylvester Stallone as Hollywood ‘special ambassadors’ Jan 2025, who ostensibly technically would report to the Secretary of State, although they have never seemed to do so, nor do they actually have any actual duties along with that office.

It's interesting how Mel has not been asked to choose 1 country.

Fabulous Friday is yet another effort to reclaim celebrating myself. Fun Fact Friday is because I am very fond of trivia of this nature, and often the sources that I use have an abundance of it.

Truth be told, I think the fall themed emojis at the top were left over from earlier permutations of them, and I no longer remember why I had them up, but I like the way they look, and it's no more complicated than that.
