We need a Mastodon instance Green Book pronto or this ain't gonna work.
This is starting to feel like the WW2 Dunkirk evacuation where the Black and Indian Commonwealth soldiers were abandoned on the beach...
This is a big problem for Mastodon.
Canadian journalist Erica Ifill just had her mastodon.online account suspended without explanation. She's been sharing stuff critical of Mastodon re: intersectional issues.
I get the decentralized structure and idea that each server has its own rules. But this Reddit-style moderation, where moderators with god-complexes make mysterious and arbitrary decisions, is going to cause people migrating to Mastodon to flee in droves.
@[email protected] We generally spend some time at the beginning of each year figuring out what time we want to take off, near holidays, for max days off. We also are fortunate to have the option to have 3 weeks of paid leave plus one week of sick leave. 0.o.
We still haven't used up all our paid days off this year.
The good thing about this Monday is that technically, it's my Thursday, and tomorrow is my Friday--and I'm off the rest of the week let me tell you, I am ready to throw my bras around in a fit of joy.
I tried Tribal for five seconds. Realized 1) Facebook clone. 2) There are many white people like me on here. 3) I do not like this.
I signed up for Hive Social, but I feel it won't work for me. Once I got over the learning curve (mostly) of Mastodon, I found myself comfier here.
Next week is Thanksgiving, when my family celebrates being thankful for still being here and for what we have.
What we don't celebrate is our colonizer pasts. Remember that for Indigenous peoples, it is a Day of Mourning.

For those of you taking deep breaths and getting ready for capitalist hell tomorrow--I see you. I feel you. But congrats on another week. It may not feel like much, but it took a lot to get here. Be proud of that.
