I always thought I was wasting time trying so hard for those “words on paper” but it truly is significant and very helpful for living better with this condition. I want more doctors to know this!!! #MedMastodon take note!!! I am so excited to become an advocate for better understanding of #ME/CFS and #LongCovid and PROPER DIAGNOSIS of these diseases! Diagnosis is not treatment, but it MAKES A DIFFERENCE!!!
#NEISvoid I received my formal #ME/CFS diagnosis this week and I can say now it was perhaps the single most psychologically helpful step in this whole chronic illness process. It feels like I was wearing a heavy cloak that I could finally hang up in the closet and be able to move forward in my life. And I’m still sick! I still need all the things - the rest, the pacing, the headphones, the special diet, the supplements. But it’s just something I do. I can get past it and MOVE ON.

Masks are not a lockdown.
Nor is testing before events.
Or getting boosters.
Or improving ventilation & filtration.

None of those interventions (despite some people's best efforts to claim otherwise) cause more harm than good. Every person who cares about the economy, jobs & quality of life will support sensible #COVID19 precautions, not oppose them.

Some people are advocating for millions more to die and many more to be chronically disabled. Reject their patent lack of sense & empathy.

#NEISvoid I have to share my success! I have received an official #me/cfs diagnosis. It feels akin to earning a degree - it was years of education and struggle, but my status was finally recognized by a higher authority. Except it’s in no way a status anyone would really *want*, though it may open doors for treatments and inclusion in research.

Still, a very strange feeling of success mixed with dread. At the very least, recognition and data inclusion is important.

Even if you're not a fan of queer people, having the government control how people dress, what their bodies are like, what they're allowed to be named...that should be scary to anyone. That sort of abuse of power never stays put, it will infect everything.
On January 13, I'm breaking my five-year sabbatical from talks and speaking at @NewYork_CM—the world's largest face-to-face creative community, entirely volunteer-run—on the month's theme: Sanctuary. Live music by the great @JOANPOLICEWOMAN. Free with RSVP https://www.themarginalian.org/live/

@rhedreen I filmed this bit at the CT Forum when @neilhimself was here the first time and gave a lovely piece of advice to the Youth Forum members and #aspiring #artists (advice that lives in my head rent free).

Universal mask wearing is not a lockdown. It’s the opposite: Mask mandates make society accessible to many more people, especially those at higher risk.
