I’m now going to attempt to change instances so I’ll probably next post around March
I’ve been in the Nursing Home where Mum moves to tomorrow. Making up her room and stuff. Twice the nurse who will look after her has come in to chat about stuff and each time he’s gently put his hand on my shoulder.
Touching strangers isn’t always appropriate but sometimes, like now, this human contact is so reassuring and comforting.

Another design consideration re: Mastodon is that it works well for ephemeral asynchronous communications, but for many reasons should not be counted on as an archival resource. Media attachments are periodically purged and may not be available after a week, or a month, etc. While some servers may try to preserve content forever, this may be costly and unsustainable. Creators, researchers should treat this as an ephemeral resource and make provisions for self-archiving anything important.
@Zed_Czar How’s your new server? It’s mildly frustrating that when I look at who you’re following I only get to see those who are on my server. I think this is the case whatever server you are on.
