@lns Hey did you have a guide that you were following for this?
I've been trying to set up a thin client server, but every guide I've come across either doesn't work because it's severely outdated, or it's missing some important parts that I can't finish it.
@smlavine is this a joke? Or are you secretly trying to harvest people's usernames to try and hack their systems or other things?
Cause if you aren't, someone else would most likely do that with any replies.
Honestly the snap situation alone should show you that they are not just willing, but have already forced things on users without giving them a choice.
But that's only recent news, they've been doing stuff like that since near the beginning.
Haha and I love when people talk about it being run by major companies. It's really not. It's mostly run by small business because they can't afford, or are not big enough, for enterprise level. And when a large company does have some Ubuntu servers, they are usually just relics from smaller company they purchased.
Don't get me wrong, Ubuntu has its place. But it's still very much not at the enterprise level yet. I've been doing this for 20+ years. And I've watched Ubuntu from its start. It was very promising back then, but the signs of its current state where there too. Ubuntu wants to be the Windows of the Linux world, and they are well on their way to doing that. And if you can't see that, then I urge you to just try any other distro, and you will quickly see why.
Honestly if any Linux Distro starts adding AI to it, I would bet money that Ubuntu would be the first one to do it. They are closer to MS windows than most people seem willing to admit or see.
@helplessduck so as an FYI,integrations and add-ons are two different things. And docker is pretty easy to figure out. Most of the time you can just copy and paste things. You just gotta pay attention to any file paths and/or optional settings you may want to change.
As for an ~authoritative~ source... Well HA does have their own forums and such. But tbh they can be very unhelpful at times. I usually get most of my info from reddit or just good old fashioned Googling. Generally I'll try and find more than one source for things so I can compare to see what is the same, and what may be different, and why, and then work my way from there.
