Jamie TehOf all the questionable things about AI, I'm starting to think its biggest crime is simply the staggering amount of resources it has pointlessly drawn away from other, more important work and the way it has corrupted even organisations that were previously doing great work in some misguided, race-to-the-bottom belief that this is actually the most important thing for humankind.

@sarcevic @Squillifish @Gashnor @NiaMolinari @rbreich Possibly, but he shouldn't be underestimated or dismissed. He can do a LOT of damage (and already has), whether that's his intention or not (though I sincerely believe that's his intention).
@Gashnor @NiaMolinari @rbreich I think his concept of the value of money leaves something to be desired; he was born a rich kid, and had everything handed to him.
Also, he may consider it to be money well spent if it lets him be a troll to his heart's (obvious) content. "Making libs cry while I LOL" is clearly on his personal wish list, and he's clearly not above killing the bird site if those he opposes suffer in the process.
@marcelias I have to go with the opposite of Hanlon's Razor (Hanlon's Cudgel?): it's almost certainly malice. Elmo is being a troll and degrading the bird site's service to stick it to people he doesn't like (all who dare disagree with him). He's just allowing himself to be seen as making dumb decisions as a CYA maneuver. He's proven over and over that he IS that petty and vindictive, so I give no further benefit of doubt.
