Trump, if you have nothing meaningful to say—just be quiet. Actions speak louder than words. If you’ve got nothing, say nothing.
Start pressuring Russia, instead of pretending to be harsh via your own platform.

@FabianLaasch @SheDrivesMobility
Imagine an existential crisis. A major international conference.
The EU commission president isn't attending.
The US president isn't.
China's president isn't.
India's PM isn't.
France's president isn't.
Germany's chancellor isn't.
Brazil's president isn't.
Russia's president isn't.
South Africa's president isn't.
Canada's PM isn't.
Japan's PM isn't.
Australia's PM isn't.

I've been an Earth system scientist for 30 years now. We used to say we have to turn the corner by 2020.
"Some of the confusion may arise from the simple fact that sitting CEOs generally cannot speak out publicly as they fear alienating their employees and customers and provoking a Trump retaliation. These negatives clearly outweigh the small upside that any one voice might provide [...]"
= Profit > demokratisches System
Und das "small upside that any one voice might provide" könnte bei dieser knappen Wahl genau das Zünglein an der Wage sein, das demokratische (pun intended) Kräfte benötigen.
I keep this quote around. It's from 1980. It's not a new problem. And although Asimov specifically mentioned the United States, unfortunately I can assure you it is not restricted to the U.S.:
It’s hard to quarrel with that ancient justification of the free press: “America’s right to know.” It seems almost cruel to ask, ingenuously, ”America’s right to know what, please? Science? Mathematics? Economics? Foreign languages?”
None of those things, of course. In fact, one might well suppose that the popular feeling is that Americans are a lot better off without any of that tripe.
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
-- Isaac Asimov
"The truth is, it’s getting harder to describe the extent to which a meaningful percentage of Americans have dissociated from reality. ...
Even in a decade marred by online grifters, shameless politicians, and an alternative right-wing-media complex pushing anti-science fringe theories, the events of the past few weeks stand out for their depravity and nihilism."

TBH, you don't need experts to predict that misinformation will worsen. Not only this season, but for the foreseeable future. You just need to look around yourself.
Especially the widely available and easy to use AI tools will boost the spreading of misinformation. With those, every ambitious layman now can create fakes that take more than a casual closer look to identify something as made up. That was formerly a domain of state actors.
