@TechConnectify

So, I saw a YouTube video a while back (I believe it was yours) talking about how terrible portable air conditioners are and just how much heat they radiate back into your living space.

Anyways, the apartment complex we live in is now offering portable air conditioners for rent, and has banned window air conditioners, and of course mini split units are not available. So they're the only ones available. And they make us pay for power, of course.

So for those of us who have been barred from a sensible and power efficient option: any chance you could do an experiment and tell us how to make those less horrible? Stick it in an insulated box and vent that box outside through a fan, perhaps?

Not only would I watch the video, I would copy your design and use it.

Thanks for your time & consideration.

Canadian Food Notification for Non-Canadians:

A Donair (or Halifax Donair) is a Canadian food invented by Peter Gamoulakos in the 1970s. The story goes that he was trying to sell Gyros but was getting terrible sales, so he invented a new dish to appeal to the Halifax locals. The new dish looked more like a Doner Kebab, so he called it a Donair.

A Donair is even less Doner Kebab than Chicken Tikka Masala is Butter Chicken. It *looks* like a Doner Kebab. But it's not the same ingredients. Not even the same meat.

Lebanese style pita. 100% beef. Sweet tangy garlic sauce made with garlic and vinegar and condensed milk and sugar. Tomato and onion are the classic toppings.

Similar name. Looks similar. But different dish. (Delicious too. Definitely worth trying if you haven't. My favorite part is the donair sauce. I often get it for other foods. Its commonly available here for pizzas or garlic fingers.)

You mean population collapse crisis? Immigrants now get here, cant afford to live here either, and are packing up to go back to where they came from where they had a higher standard of living. Incidentally, fixing cost of living and making it easier to care for children would male more people have more kids, too.

I have nothing against immigrants, maybe a bit less than half my friends I met with them as international students. But this poll makes a lot of sense.

We have no business tricking people into coming here on lies of a better life if they can't have a decent life here because nobody can because of rockbottom wages and skyhigh cost of living and a housing supply shortage because of decades of not building enough even for the population we had. Wartorn refugees? Sure. Fine. But anyone who comes here should know theyre coming to a land of insolvency where most people cannot afford the cost of living. Conning immigrants is unethical, and adding weights to everyone who is already struggling to tread water here to do it is just adding insult to injury.

What we need is wages indexed to cost of living (triple the rent of active local listings for a 2 bedroom for minimum wage would be a good ballpark - this means you'd need municipal minimum wage btw, but near that in a UBI would work too, again, scaled municipally), and also, 30 million new units of social housing - 75% of the population - priced at 1/3 of where they want minimum wage to be for a 2 bedroom. "How will we pay for it?" The government budget determines the funds put into circulation via modern economic theory. If they implement it, it literally pays for itself.

But our corporate overlords and their politician spokespeople aren't going to offer that unless everyone demands it.

Absolute BS. 😑

Maybe I can sideload the apk.

I really like this earth-integrated dome house design. I'd like it even better if it wasnt ferrocrete, but still. Very cool design for a home buried in a hill. Maybe add some Rotproof insulation between the structure and the foot or two of dirt (rockwool or hempcrete perhaps), maybe use stabilized earth + stabilized mud brick for the structure

Aesthetically I'd prefer more of a Bag-End vibe than this white-plaster hippie vibe, but thats just home decor choice.

With everything alternating burning or flooding or polar vortex-ing these days thanks to the Climate Emergency, a buried house in an artificial hill, above the water table, sounds like a pretty good way to go. I saw this years ago and tgen lost it, and today it randomly showed up again in my youtube home page.

Ondol
In-floor radiant heat systems.

Traditionally with smoke, but that could leak into the house. Modern smokeless masonry stove tech might work better. You could also feed hot air from a solar chimney or heat panels into the ondol to heat up your floor. Or both.

I've watched a lot of videos about this concept.
