@[email protected] if I move will I still be able to follow people on those if they get defederated?

I’m seeing talk that other instances will be silencing/defederating .social and .online ?? (I don’t fully know what that means) due to poor moderation, connections to fascist instances and posters. Has there been more focus on growth than safety here? We just recreating twitters foibles? Should I move??
