Take photos of your mundane life.

In my late teens/early 20's (very bad) camera were starting to appear in phones but it wasn't really normal to take lots of photos. In recent years I'd been sad I had very few photos of my childhood pets who passed away years ago. I recently found an old Razr flip phone I used between about 2007-2011. I was bored so decided to see if I could get it to boot and offload the memory card contents. Took a bit of experimenting but I could. Plenty of that memory card is photos pointless then and now but I found wonderful things. A photo of my first workplace and my university accommodation. Photos of friendships lost and still held. A photo of the first time I pushed myself to enter a sporting event. Photos in the long ago sold house of my grandparents who passed away too early. So many photos of my kitties. The photos are only 1.3 megapixel and the focus is often not great but they are precious.

Take the photos.

When someone dies in the state of Victoria with no next-of-kin, the State Trustees bury them in the Old Ballan Cemetery. This cemetery keeps going with the help of elderly volunteers. They need new volunteers to take up the work and some funds to do things like digitise records.

Welcome to Old Ballan, the cemetery where State Trustees bury the dead with nowhere else to go

Each year, hundreds of people who "fall through the cracks" are buried in country Victoria by volunteers who never knew them.
