blasting the criminal legal system in dual fighter mode 🚀🚀
I think marijuana is kimda bad and that the social acceptability of marijuana use has gone a bit too far. However, the legalization of marijuana has not gone far enough. And when you read articles like these, it is crucial to appreciate that the implication is that people should be locked in cages for selling marijuana without a prescription. Which is way worse than people having access to marijuana.
OK, now this I really don't understand. What does 120th percentile mean? Someone help me out here!
This from the NYT seems internally contradictory as a statistical matter. 20% of people are at the 95th percentile? I guess maybe the 95th percentile could be internationally normed. But on its face it seems pretty weird to me. On the other hand, I'm pretty numerically illiterate.
Wild guess of a prediction: Biden will want to pay the ransom, but the ransom demand will be absolutely insane. The parties will miscalculate, with Biden thinking the GOP will eventually release the hostage for a “reasonable” ransom and with the GOP either expecting Biden to cave or deluding itself about the consequences of a default. The deadline will pass, and there will be a short default. Economic calamity will begin. In a panic, the Biden Administration will finally act unilaterally.
I suspect that Twitter’s algorithm might be automatically suppressing or de-amplifying tweets that mention Mastodon. I have more than 1000 followers (not that that’s a lot), yet I got zero engagement with these tweets. On the other hand, maybe people are afraid of liking or retweeting because that might result in they themselves being disciplined?

This juxtaposition of questions presented from two petitions that SCOTUSblog has flagged as viable is telling. The first flouts virtually every rule for drafting a QP that meets the court’s stated case-selection criteria. The second is a very nice example of how to draft an effective QP.

If a criminal defendant posed QPs like those in the first petition, his petition wouldn’t even be read. But does anyone doubt that the law enforcement officers in the first case have a good shot at a grant?

I’m intrigued by this law. What if Nevada passes an identical law mandating that it’s own primary be set 7 days before any other state’s?
Why are prediction markets high on Georgia when all the analysts I see say it’s headed to a runoff. Do the bettors really think Warnock is a substantial favorite in a runoff?
