@the_verge There is no freedom of speech without the freedom of retraction. Both stuff deleted to spite the idiot managers of Reddit and stuff you honestly regretted are all , maybe permanently, on on display.
What happened to NOC.SOCIAL????
@neurovagrant @deoan We do not have freedom of speech if we do not have freedom of retraction.
@gruber but that black smudge on the right abutment sure looks like someone crashed and burned in that pothole.
@FrankPasquale
what little passive consumption of entertainment I indulge is at our town's struggling indie movie house and the decaying flow of documentaries from youtube. I have only second hand opinions for the good old days of stuff like Seinfeld and The Sopranos. The darker and more cynical stuff that followed, I have never watched. Who has time for that? The streaming has been a search for income, not for artistic achievement. Turning mass audiences into a kind of landfill for "content".
@RichStein @molly0xfff This lax vigilance from Binance, and the ease with which prosecution scooped up tons of evidence on SBF/FTX makes me wonder if the one term presidency of the unregistered sex offender lulled the klepto kiddies into carelessness. Older bankers are more discrete.
@brentsimmons if it is any comfort, there are people like me who never have and never will use either Reddit or Twitter [nor many other of the intentionally addictive social media platforms ]. I am ok with paying for services that leave my ID and data alone.
@FrankPasquale careful what you wish for. we can see our mispellings or trust autocorrect but few people have and effective "back button" for their thought processes.
@Wolven I am limping along with DDG but not just for privacy reasons. Gurgle now yields complete shit results unless I am logged in so Alphabet can look up who it is talking to. Shitification has been picking up speed. Download times for mere news pages stretch out to noticeable pauses while all the goddamned ad videos load. There is no free service.
@pjf locked away in a closet in phone company switching facility there is an LA120 grinding away to print event logs.
