I am an American concerned about modern journalism and the myth of un-biased editing or writing. We can't be rid of our biases, but we can be transparent in our work, as individuals and in company systems.

@georgetakei Y’all are answering the wrong question. The Redwood Forest is older than any of these items in the comments but nobody talks about as vintage because it is still very fresh and alive. Vintage has to do with production and availability. If a product is not produced any more then it is out of style. Then when there are less of them around they are becoming historic. One day they will become nostalgic. But vintage happens when it is produced again or found somehow.
@aljazeera This article does not provide an answer to the Israeli- Arab conflict. How could it? But it outlines an idea I can get behind. A simple idea to break the cycle of bloodshed, which is something that status quo “Leadership” is not even talking about.
@aljazeera Neither this article nor the letter and official that it quotes mentions “war crimes.” For this reason I deem this but if reporting light and nearly irrelevant.
@wood @jeff On Freya’s day associated with a number of female power?
@cspcypher People who talk about a “free market” obviously never visited market squares of old, which were well-regulated with standardized measures and security guards — and many with monarchs and thugs that put their fingers on various scales. Rather than markets being free, we all need to understand how they can be lawful and “just” for everyone.
@RacketNews It’s not that simple. Lovers of Peace should probably oppose USA police union policies to protect so many bad apples, Israeli policies of land theft, and also research what Gaza is, if not a sovereign nation. Not to mention the USgovernment’s ruling on the Duwamish tribal recognition, France’s ongoing economic colonialism in West Africa, corruption in Haiti, illegal Isa toon of various drugs and plants in the 20th century in the US, the concept of self-determination… Not simple.
@marcelias Claiming that Hamas beheaded children is perhaps overreaching. Trusting Benjamin Netanyahu’s words is never journalistically justified and so far he is the source of these claims, not evidence.
@Jeramee @asbestos @Pashhur @alloydflanagan @andrewfelix pardon me, but having studied Just War theory, it is merely a justification for actions that have no justification ever. It is a pointless act to say who is “Just” in the midst of war. Neither Israel nor Hamas are justified here.

@marcelias But is it fair to claim that George Wallace’s ghost might approve of this scheme? Didn’t he spend his career after 1972 amending his former horrible stand? Or was that just on the surface? I am not from the south, I’ve just heard…

How a Failed Assassination Attempt Pushed George Wallace to Reconsider His Segregationist Views

Fifty years ago, a fame-seeker shot the polarizing politician five times, paralyzing him from the waist down

Democracy is fragile. If the people do not continually fight for it, it will be hijacked by criminals and gangs and the law of strength will prevail.
