Another year comes by, and so another PCSX2 release! 2.6 just landed, check it out here: https://pcsx2.net/blog/2025/pcsx2-2.6/ #emulation #retrogaming #pcsx2
@bagder you've inspired me to require PR authors disclose their AI usage for PCSX2.
It's not going to be perfect, bad actors can just lie, but it might save us some time reviewing and questioning if they know something we don't.
Thankfully it's not too common (yet), but I've had a couple run-ins with slop.
@foone does this mean that we can ignore those malicious USB drives that emulate a keyboard, and instead worry about malicious floppy disks that send keyboard commands 😄

@senil @KayOhtie

We use GitHub issues as a bug and feature request tracker. If we find that there is an issue that doesn't happen to be a user error, an issue is opened / reopened. This is because it's easier and faster to provide support on discord or our forums. It's not to make an end users support more difficult.

Regarding the comments about cross platform testing-- it's ignorant to treat someone testing on another platform as useless and/or annoying. It's quite uncommon for us to close an issue as not reproducible without testing on their platform. Everyone has their own platform while I try to maintain and test PCSX2 on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Knowing whether an issue is platform specific can be incredibly valuable and can save me time trying to reproduce.

@huronbikes @foone Same here, but in the form of an android app. Everything was happening right on the UI thread. As you'd expect, the user experience was horrible.
After what we know was a pretty long wait, the PCSX2 Flathub package is back in sync with the AppImage one. We've been coordinating with the hard-working maintainers at Flathub to get this fixed, and we're sorry to anyone it inconvenienced. If you're one of those users who's been waiting, you're back on the bleeding edge. #pcsx2 #flathub
@foone Omg a PCSX2 mention!
It's due to how the GS handles transparency. We have a python script in our tools directory that will automatically scale the transparency back and forth for you.
We get the feeling there might be some programmers who follow us here (maybe; don't quote us), so for those joining us from 1.6, we'd like to point out that between releases, PCSX2 was given a brand-new debugger by team member and PS2 homebrew expert @Fobes . And for those wanting to dig down even deeper than that, fobes has an ongoing series of articles dedicated to breaking down the PS2's behavior into bite-sized, easy-to-understand pieces at https://fobes.dev/ #pcsx2 #emulation #homebrew

All of us here enjoy these games as much as you do, but PCSX2 is a tool for preservation as much as it is for fun. If you want to learn more about how the PlayStation 2 works in a way that's easy to understand, PCSX2 contributor @Fobes creates bite-sized explorations of various aspects of the PS2's functionality. https://fobes.dev/archive #playstation2 #homebrew

Hello. I tried doing a basic writeup on the PlayStation 2's DMAC engine. If you're interested, check it out :)

There are currently some other posts there about some rendering techniques if that's more your style.
