@JamesBaker Many will just seek to alternative options rather than use traditional social media which can have the opposite effect of pushing teens into the dark web or other unmonitored spaces outside of government jurisdiction.
More commonly they'll just a VPN to bypass it honestly, having this snitching system really wouldn't do anything aside from making it appear more authoritarian than it actually is.
@JamesBaker I feel it's quite unnecessary considering children don't even have the funds to buy devices of their own most of the time and parents have the tools already installed or can easily install on their devices.
Apple's age assurance is quite limited considering you either need a driving license or credit card which younger adults may not have or retirees since passports aren't a valid method unlike other age assurance providers.
@openrightsgroup I've used all three of these platforms for years how, in my opinion the main reason why Discord and Roblox is rolling out AV globally is due to poor moderation of bad actors.
This backlash has caused investors to look the other way and lose revenue, however these changes are just ways to gain them back however users will have ways around these restrictions.
@JamesBaker A full ban on VPNs or even restrictions seems very authoritarian.
Not many countries even do have said restrictions nor children can afford said technologies as they usually require a monthly subscription.
Question on how this is actually enforced is still in the air and would it cover any method of tunneling your internet connection in another country such as residental proxies or even the Tor network?
