I am legally prescribed stimulants.

I also stay far the hell away from short-form dopamine hits, because holy shit.

Used to literally eat until I was sick because my brain craved the “nice chemicals” I was unable to produce naturally. I can’t imagine self-medicating with digital brain-rot content, and I feel awful that people these days are unknowingly doing just that. Even worse: that it’s incentivised by big companies!

this is a wrong take for a few reasons, if we’re talking about trust.

Also, Signal literally was taking money from the CIA for a decade and also is based in the US anyway, and no one hardly said a word 🤣🤣 “Privacy” activists are a joke lmao. Also signal made a crypto coin and took away features like SMS, but of course they get a free pass for that too. Makes you wonder.

  • SimpleX is fully open source, verifiable, and audited. If there are changes that are bad, the community will talk about them, and at worst it can be forked

  • SimpleX has made it clear that they dont want you to trust them. It’s decentralised and anyone can run their own relay, and the servers are designed prevent correlation. They also make it very easy to use TOR and multiple circuits. This is contrary to the inferior Signal model where you just have to trust that the centralized Signal org isnt leaking your phone and IP to the feds.

  • moving towards a decentralised, open, and trustless world is better for everyone. In this kind of system, I really dont give a damn where they are getting their money from, as long as they arent putting crap in the software, and if they do, we will all know about it. But so far they have shown that they are committed to extreme security and privacy, and they obviously arent trying to appeal to normies, so i doubt they would ever even try to put VC-pushed garbage in.

If you want a good app, you will need funding from somewhere. Look at apps like Session that arent funded well. They suck. So I’d rather SimpleX be funded by a VC instead of by the feds like Signal, as long as everything stays open, free, trustless, and decentralised

Time to get downvoted! See you guys at -50 😁

I use both protonmail and tutanota atm. Had good experiences so far tbh! But for those I know that are truly dedicated to the foss lifestyle, most I know either self host their email service or use something like posteo/distroot. Some I know use riseup as well but I think it’s propertiary I think but have a huge emphasis on privacy though and being very anti corporate.

Hey this really amazing thing just happened to me and my friends group. It was world changing. Half of those friends don’t give a shit and never respond to text messages again… DECADES PASS … No one bothers to write any of it down. A major power predictably displaces everyone in the region to quell quixotic zealotry. No one can find work, they are homesick; outcasts; gutter fodder of the diaspora.

In reality it is more like, someone sees a Craigslist job post about a religious startup. A few dudes write a plausible fan fiction. They even copy each other’s homework like primary schoolchildren, errors and all; not even intentional obfuscation errors, the real deal little kid kind. Their works all fit into a prequel timeline niche. A COUPLE HUNDRED YEARS PASS Fan fiction universe is fucking god mode. Why? Because people are fucking stupid. Humans are sub sentient. There was no separation of church and state. This was as political as it was emotional, lack of fundamental logic skills, and survivalism. I don’t believe any fucker that tells me some unhappenable story decades later, and especially when the story can’t be corroborated except by his homework copying buddies getting put up in peoples houses and not needing to work because he wrote a plausible—to a largely illiterate population—fan fiction.

I imagine all plastics will be out of the question. I’m wondering about what ways food packaging might become regulated to upcycling in the domestic or even commercial space. Assuming energy remains a $ scarce $ commodity I don’t imagine recycling glass will be super practical as a replacement. Do we move to more unpackaged goods and bring our own containers to fill at markets? Do we start running two way logistics chains where a more durable glass container is bought and returned to market? How do we achieve a lower energy state of normal in packaging goods?

What is the practical difference between the main instances of kbin and mbin, from a users perspective?

When the spam became overwhelming here I signed up to the largest mbin instance, Fedia.io. On one hand it runs well and isn't overrun with spam posts. On the other, it doesn't have as many communities that kbin does.... #AskKbin

Will it be possible at some point to have private magazines?

Just wondering if local communities could use kbin that way. #kbinMeta
