Shout out to my co-authors who guided me through the writing of this abstract ✨ So excited to present my poster in Madeira, Funchal, Portugal 🇵🇹 and elated to get to see even more wondrous work from my research communities this year~

Cheers!

Recap of #chi2025 in Yokohama, Japan!! 🎊🌸🇯🇵 Even though I had to leave early, I’m still so grateful to have presented my first full paper, see other wonderful presentations and work, and to reconnect and meet with so many lovely colleagues and mentors! Til next, friends~

📯 Publications Announcements! 📯
Excited to announce that I will be presenting at CHI 2025 on my paper, “Cataloging Augmented, Ambivalent Transgender Futures: Designing Inclusive AR Technologies for Trans Communities Through Speculative, Participatory Zine-Making” 🎊

This is my first CHI paper, and as first author to boot! Thankful to share this milestone with my lovely collaborators Kat Brewster, Aloe DeGuia, Denny Starks, Malaya Manacop, Samuel Mayworm, Tawanna Dillahunt and Oliver Haimson~ ✨

I’m not saying we stop being vigilant, but as to keep the spiraling at bay:

-I still have my job (knock on wood), my communities, and /my/ research

-There’s no shortage of people and communities like us doing their part in what’s right, they have always been here, and will continue to be here

Response to the NSF freezing grant reviews:

-Exec orders aren't laws, they're meant to cause confusion and chaos, and there will be legal pushback

-DEI is just a word, and we'll just use different words

-And we already have and we've been playing this game for years, and that’s our power

📯 PUB ANNOUNCEMENT 📯
Excited to share that TWO papers I’m part of have been conditionally accepted to @chi 2025, including one I’m a first author of ✨

This also makes these my first CHI publications! 🥰🎊

I’ll have more details closer to the camera ready deadline, but I just want to thank my amazing co-authors, lab, and advisors ♥️ not even a year into finally being in the research space I was meant to be in, and it feels I’m already seeing the fruits of it~

Cheers!

📯 BIG LIFE UPDATE 📯
I transferred my PhD to the School of Information at the University of Michigan! 🎊 and I’ll be finishing out my program here advised by Dr. Oliver Haimson and Dr. Tawanna Dillahunt~

I’m so unbelievably lucky that transferring worked out so well—going to one of the premier schools in my field (and in the world!) at such an endearing and fun city like Ann Arbor alongside some of the most amazing and supportive colleagues and advisors a graduate could ask for ✨

Hey all! My and Agnes Romhanyi's CHI Play paper was selected to appear in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Showcase on Kudos 🎉 Go check it out now~

Shouting Match: A Preliminary Study on Fostering Self-Moderation Among Gamers Through Embodied Play

This paper examines initial findings around "Shouting Match", a two-player fighting game that uses shout commands for its main gameplay. It's also an exploration in how to foster emotion self-regulation among fighting game players through alternative play.

It’s live!! 🎉Check out me and Agnes Romhanyi’s WiP paper for #CHIPLAY2023 ! And if you’re around next week at the conference, come by and see our poster presentation Thursday!

Cheers~ ✨
