@dnc I know this recipe by a different name but it is for a soft yeasted dinner roll. I make them at Thanksgiving every year. Search Lenora’s Yeast Rolls by Bernard Clayton.

Stephen Miller planning the Great Purge: Recruit ‘red state’ deportation army of law enforcement and National Guard to round up immigrants, rip them from their homes and community, and forcibly deport them.

Stephen Miller Planning the Great Purge: Recruit ‘Red State’ Deportation Army To Round Up Immigrants, Rip Them from Their Homes and Community, and Forcibly Deport Them - America's Voice

Fringe sheriffs who believe they’re totally unaccountable to any state or federal authority hosted a right-wing conference in Las Vegas last week, where they made explicit calls for vigilante gangs “to patrol polling stations and stop the ‘expected flood’ of ‘illegal’ immigrant voters,” WIRED reports. Of course, this is a non-existent issue: non-citizen voting is already… Continue »

I’m glad Kristi Noem is getting hate for killing a dog, as she should be, and I want to make sure folks know she’s terrible for lots of other reasons too

-Cutting lunch programs for low income kids
-Making SD hostile to trans people
-Banning abortion
-Racism

And much more. She’s vile.

First of all, I'm not calling it transphobia, it's lazy juvenile fearful hatred by the ignorant

Secondly, there are people in this world who can change into being the people they know they are

How is that not the most magical fucking thing in this world?

So many of us don't even have a vision of who we are, let alone the strength of character and will to become that person, and yet here they are.

I feel privileged to ever be in the (virtual) presence of someone who changed into *themselves*.

Last November, NASA's Voyager 1 sent home garbled data, and engineers traced the problem to the flight data subsystem (FDS). The problem turned out to be a single chip in the FDS memory. They couldn't repair the chip but could move the affected code into sections and store them in different parts of the FDS system. They tested the new system this week, sending signals to the Voyager 1, 22.5 light-hours away. It worked, and Voyager 1 is back.

@Radical_EgoCom That's the kind of communism/community I can support. At a certain point it isn't really even an -ism, it's just living together and doing what's right for each person.

British scientist Rosalind Franklin died #OTD in 1958.

Her most famous contribution to science came from her X-ray diffraction images of DNA, particularly Photo 51, which provided crucial evidence for the double helix structure of DNA. Her photo was shared without her knowledge with J. Watson & F. Crick, who used it as a basis for their model of DNA's structure. Their work overshadowed her contribution, & she was not fully recognized for her role until after her death.
