Twitter Engineer: I resigned because they wanted me to work 80 hours making a bluecheck system that lets anyone pose as Burger King and say the Burger King demands droit du seigneur

Reply Guy: Good riddance slacker. I could do your job. I am pretty good at Microsoft Office

Good morning everyone. I like the idea of a new day blank slate.. how do you keep that fresh feeling from being hemmed in from the pressures of your world ? Looking for ideas 😘 thanks !

This Twitter fiasco is a reminder of who is *actually* critical to the survival of our economy & society.

Twitter worked before the billionaire got here. Now that workers are gone, Twitter is collapsing. Workers made Twitter work—a billionaire broke it.

Workers > Billionaires

The government's plans for the NHS: tell us what you think!

They recently announced plans for a ā€˜Federated Data Platform’: a vast new Ā£370m health data system with spy-tech firm Palantir as the front runner.

I cannot quite believe the government is doing this, when we took them to Court last year, to make sure they didn’t! #Palantir https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/nov/13/controversial-360m-nhs-england-data-platform-lined-up-for-trump-backers-firm
Controversial Ā£360m NHS England data platform ā€˜lined up’ for Trump backer’s firm

Patients will have no say over records going to Palantir, the software giant run by billionaire Republican backer

So after a week on Mastodon what do I think compared to the blue bird site.

1) Certainly less awful behaviour from most

2) UI sucks a lot on Mastodon

3) Bird site still wins for people I like following, some have come over, e.g. @stephenfry, @mikegalsworthy etc etc.

Some not it seems, e.g. thehistoryguy, RosieisaHolt

4) I cannot see how Mastodon will scale up both technically, and in terms of avoiding the problems from the bird site. Would love to be proved wrong

When following back people here, I’m noticing a lot of people haven’t posted anything yet.

If you can’t think of anything to write just yet, then do consider just reblogging (=retweeting!) good content that you see around. You could start with this post, for example, to encourage more people to start sharing content around here.

BTW, as we get the Bylines publications going on here, that will provide ample good news content for the community. šŸ‘šŸ‘

Hey there, really really appreciate all the follows and recommendations šŸ™

But, can you also tell new people about the site at https://fedi.tips too?

The site address is exactly the same as my username with a dot in the middle. You can make it clickable on here by having https:// at the beginning.

I'm very happy to help people directly on here, but it would help A LOT if you can tell people about the site too!   Thank you!
