Based on my brief Twitter 2.0 experience I imagine Elon woke up at 3am, decided a rebrand was in order, and sent a 3 line email asking for it to be done Monday.
My theory. Some bug was causing additional traffic. Instead of tracking down the root cause they just assumed it was scraping and started rate limiting. After people started pointing the issue out they were able to fix it.
Elon's plan to break even this year. Steal from employees and charities.
Still early but the @Padres are looking good this season.
