Well, that was interesting.
Went to the local camera shop to trade in a Nikon telephoto lens and a F to Z Nikon lens converter. Got a fair trade, and was walking out...when another guy was walking IN with the exact same lens I bought new in his mits. He asked if I just bought it and I said yes. He told me he bought his from B&H brought it on a cruise but never used it and decided he didn't need the focal range of the lens (180-600) and it was a bit too bulky for him. It was past his return period, so he wanted to recoup some funds from it.
I asked what he wanted for it, and he wanted only 58% of what it cost new (with tax included) - So I walked in, returned the lens I bought, paid him via Zelle, and used my credit to pick up a teleconverter...and still came out ahead.
The guy kept saying, "This is extremely serendipitous." Yup, what are the chances that someone leaving with and someone coming by with the same lens for the same camera, one leaving, one coming would bump into each other at the entrance and strike up something?
The camera shop was a bit confused, but they were still happy since I did use my credit anyway, and I didn't use the new lens yet.
Odd, but serendipitous encounter indeed.
