Harmony exists within us and all around us. We can cultivate it further by opening our hearts to any perceived other.
@rlounsbury @Daojoan I'm in the midst of transitioning away from as much big tech as possible; it's definitely possible and not nearly as much of a compromise as it might have been a decade ago.
It isn't just an issue of morality, it's an issue of privacy, and an issue of being able to own your data.
Sure, trying to go 100% cold turkey is daunting, but you don't have to do it all at once. Setting up your own homelab or a hobby server outside the US has never been easier. If you can migrate away from even one big tech online service, you're one step closer.
The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.
Such an important discussion on:
- Vulture capitalism and its deleterious effects on modern society and everyday life
- The global economy and the lack of benefit most experience from its arbitrary 'growth'.
- The separation between the elite that dominate economics on the grand scale and the everyday economics of the masses
Does it feel hopeless right now? Do you feel powerless? Let me offer you the following facts:
1. Tesla is tanking so hard right now they had to parade a bunch of cars in front of the fucking White House just to try to boost sales.
2. Target and Walmart have seen sales tank so drastically in the last month they are immediately rolling back their anti DEI stances.
3. Congress has never in history seen this amount of call volume. They typically get 40-50 calls a minute. They are currently trying to field upwards of 1,600-2,000 calls every minute.
4. The Resistance has been so vocal at town halls that the GOP had to officially instruct Republican congressmen to stop doing them.
5. This administration hasn't been able to make a single tariff stick for longer than 3 days because of all the fallout.
You. Are. Powerful.
They expected you to just put your head down and roll over and do nothing. Instead you resisted. You fought back. You showed up. And you continue to show up.
You're showing up for education. For veterans. For trans folk. For women. For immigrants. For people of color. For free speech. For international allies. You're showing up for what's right and you're refusing to obey fascism in advance.
And what's more, there is no coordinated response among the elected officials, judges, and appointed GOP heads. They're floundering. All of them. They weren't expecting this. And they have no idea what to do about it.
All humans are equally worthy of healthy food, clean water, appropriate clothing, safe shelter, a welcoming home, safe environments, community connections, and purpose simply because we exist.
When we meet our needs collectively, we free our minds and lives to pursue deeper interests, art, education, higher purposes, collective change, and healing. This is what we, as humans, are truly meant to do.
