In Pasadena, CA, April 2023 witnessed a monthly maximum of 92°F on the 21st, which is slightly below average.
Over the past 115 years, the average hottest day of April has warmed 5.5°F, the fastest of any month of the year.
The all-time April record from 1989 still stands, in which highs reached 105°F early in the month.
The existence of that heat wave suggests the all-time record of 98°F in March from 1916 is very, very vulnerable to being crushed.

Big sea glass haul today at Shark Fin Cove in Santa Cruz County, California. Gorgeous weather.
In the cove next door at Davenport Beach, I found my first ever purple piece of sea glass 20 seconds into my glass hunt.
I promptly left the beach, and I never wish to return again. You see, I don't hunt at beaches famous for their sea glass. It ruins the fun for me. It feels less... thrilling. It feels like cheating.

If you haven't been on Twitter in a while, it is indeed going how you'd expect. Climate activists and scientists are either not getting the reach they used to or are getting rushed by hundreds of trolls and deniers.
I will continue to post on that app, but as of tonight, I will begin doing my best to build my Mastodon following as well.
