Tell Your Representative to Support a More Interoperable Future

There are a few very large companies which have an outsized influence on our online lives. Having large companies with control over so much of our data is not working for users, not working for privacy or freedom of expression, and it’s blocking the normal flow of competition. Above all, these giants need to be pushed to make it easy for users to leave, or to use other tools to interact with their data without leaving entirely. The “Augmenting Compatibility and Competition by Enabling Service Switching Act of 2021” (or ACCESS Act) would do that. Tell your representatives to pass the ACCESS Act.

Tell Congress: Close the Warrantless Backdoor to Spy on Communications

Repeated decisions declassified by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court confirm that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is unconstitutionally sifting through the emails and communications of U.S. persons without a warrant. This is an end-run around Americans’ privacy and it’s been going on for far too long. Now, Representatives Lofgren, Jayapal, Massie, and Davidson are offering a solution and to close this back door. The representatives will offer a vital amendment to H.R. 4505, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2022--and we need your help to get it through. Tell your members of Congress to support this amendment.
