Amateur backyard astrophotography from Bortle 8/9 skies.

Finally! After receiving my replacement ZWO 2600MM Pro (oil leak and fan causing vibration issues), we experienced an uncharacteristic three weeks of cloudy weather. This was a test shot of the Cygnus Wall in the North America Nebula. The image is 30 x 5min exposures in hydrogen alpha. #astronomy #astrophotography #astrophoto #space #nebula #deepspaceobject
Added some OIII. Between the light pollution, wind, and tracking issues, the image is messy. But, with the weather being what it has been, gotta work with what I get. The Rosette Nebula is about 5000 light years from earth and 130 light years across. Here you can see about 1/4 of the nebula. #photography #astrophotography #space #deepspace #DSO #rosettenebula #nebula
Here is a close-up of the Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237). The Rosette Nebula is about 5000 light years from earth and 130 light years across. Here you can see about 1/4 of the nebula. This image is composed of 44 x 5min (3.7 hours total integration) exposures using a hydrogen alpha filter. If current weather patterns persist, I'll complete the image sometime in 2055 ;) #photography #astrophotography #space #deepspace #DSO #rosettenebula #nebula
Yes, the moon was full. Yes, this target is relatively close to the moon. Yes, the seeing wasn't great. BUT, this was the first night without clouds in weeks. So, here is 37 x 5min exposures in Ha of the Spider Nebula. Given the forecast, it'll be next year before I complete this photo. #astrophotography #space #photography #astronomy #nebula #spidernebula
Added some OIII data and created this HOO image. Still a work in progress.
Added another night of Ha for a total of 70x5min exposures. OII or SII next, depending on the weather and the moon.
The clouds finally parted for one night!! This is 170 minutes of integration (5min x 34) in Ha on the Horsehead Nebula. #astrophotography #astronomy #astrophoto #photography #space #deepspaceobject #horseheadnebula
Well, I thought I was going to have four nights and ended up with one. So, the data is a little tortured here, but I'll add more data later. This is M 78 (Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula) in RGB. #astrophotography #astrophoto #Astrodon #space #deepspaceobject #nebula #photography #astronomy
In for a cold night. I was originally going to have 4 clear nights with Bortle 3 skies, BUT ended up with a two day snowstorm and one potentially clear night.
Just migrated from another server and testing things out. Here is a picture of the core of the Heart Nebula in HSO (Hydrogen alpha, Sulfer II, Oxygen III). This was actually the first lights on my newest OTA. #astrophotography #astrophoto #photography #space #deepspaceobject #nebula #astrodon
