@gutenberg_org i do agree that it might be a display issue since unicode doesn't know which script it italizes (?) - then again it's mostly a matter of missing over- or underlines. the same issue is visible on the wikipedia page on cyrillic script / italic and cursive forms.

@rbreich that would imply they actually compete - esp. in developmentally stagnating fields this is not true
