kbin-megamod: proposal and proof of concept for integrated collection of kbin scripts with toggle menu

Recently I had been thinking about using localstorage to elaborate a settings menu that could be used to toggle various scripts that persist browser sessions and would make the process of script management less fiddly and prone to collisions for end-users.... #kbinStyles

1. Meta embraces ActivityPub, federates with mastodon.social, uses Fediverse servers as a "look at all the people you can talk to on day one!"

2. People on Fediverse start following/mingling with Threads accounts, thereby tightly integrating the network effect between the two

3. People decide that if they can get access to the Fediverse through Threads instead of Mastodon, which is for "dumb nerds", they'll go with Threads

4. "Threads will be ending support for ActivityPub on September 1st, 2026 - click here to import your Mastodon account"

5. Fediverse users leave en masse so they can keep talking to their friends on Threads

6. Blog post Eugen: "I didn't want to believe they would go this far"

Decided I'm going to go ahead with my Kbin mobile app.

Yeah I know i have a lot on the go, but I use Apollo daily, and want a solid Apollo like experience for Kbin.

I'm willing to hand over the project to Kbin if they want, and would love to work closely with the developer on this if possible.

Will be starting this next week, after my camping trip! It will be open source from the start, and contributors will be gladly welcomed! #kbin

The whole "reddit going dark" is kind of maddening. There is a lot of people wanting to jump ship because they're killing 3rd party apps. Switching to kbin or lemmy is a pretty clear side step, but no one is willing to do ANY reading whatsoever about the fediverse. Even with clear instruction and a 2-step guide, it's "too much of a hassle."

It was the same thing with moving from the bird-site to here.

It's like the word "instance" makes people instantly retarded.

Good morning, all!

Today is Tuesday, December 6.

It's Election Day in Georgia! Voters will cast their votes today in the Georgia Senate runoff. Polls continue to show Sen. Raphael Warnock with a slight lead. If you're in Georgia and haven't voted yet, today is your last chance!

The election could say a lot about candidate quality and about whether Democrats can replicate their success in the state.

The idea that low wages are better than nothing and people should be grateful just to have a shitty, exploitative job is horrifying propaganda.

As we wait for the Supreme Court to decide on this, total loans are not being forgiven: only up to $10,000 or $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients. Most people have a lot more debt, so they will still be paying that back for a long time. The income level for forgiveness is up to $125,000, but the mean (where most people are) is probably down near the average for the U.S, which is not exactly an emerging affluent earner.

Most of us who graduated a couple of decades ago only needed relatively small loans to finance our degrees. But today's students must often borrow staggering amounts of money. Is it "fair" to these students that we chose to stop investing in affordable higher education decades ago?

And what happens when June rolls around?

This 10 or 20K would help a lot of people and hurt no one.

They should give Donald Trump’s tax returns to Justice Alito so everyone will know what’s in them.
