There is a patience and precision that Rick and entire band are playing with (but especially Rick) on 4/25 that I can’t get enough of. As cohesive as I’ve heard all year.
I just looked back at texts with my wife (not a phan) when I was debating going to see Tauk with Goose opening on 5/10/19. I had never heard of Goose so I did some prep and was liking what I heard. I went alone (as you can see from her response). Then they played a top 3 dead song for me. Funny to think about them being a sparsely attended one set opener.
Does Coach really not know that Peggy O is a traditional song and not GD original? Come on...
Digging into the 45 min echo right MEO
I did go see Snarky Puppy and holy shit that was an incredible show.
Should I go see Snarky Puppy tonight? I know very little about them other than them being master instrumentalists.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything but it’s VERY interesting that soundboards for a show from 3 days ago with 60+ minutes worth of Tweezer & Simple finally makes it’s way to the phans on 4/20. Trey is still the master of tension and release.
One of the things I liked about Mastodon was Goose fans didn’t bend over backwards to kiss band member’s asses. with the arrival of the most active band member on socials I may have to vacate another site. This disappoints no one.
Some Nashville pregame tunes for the phreaks
I love Goose but I feel like this has all the makings of a forgettable ‘plateau year’. Mexico and points of cap were strong but it seems like having an expansive song catalog for a band still tweaking and growing leads to some boring sets and some unfavorable, non-cohesive set lists. I’ve seen Goose 13 times and love them but this is my take for ‘23
